Frame
The body that holds everything. Size is given by the propeller it takes (for example a 5-inch frame) or the diagonal motor-to-motor distance in millimetres.
Drone parts guide
By the NVX engineering team, New Delhi
A multirotor drone is a small set of parts that must match each other: motors sized for the frame, an ESC rated for the motors, a battery that can supply them, and a flight controller that ties it all together. This guide explains each part, the numbers that matter when you buy, and when a drone kit makes more sense than buying parts one by one.
These are the parts of a typical quadcopter, from the frame out.
The body that holds everything. Size is given by the propeller it takes (for example a 5-inch frame) or the diagonal motor-to-motor distance in millimetres.
Brushless motors spin the propellers. The stator size (such as 2207) and the KV rating (rpm per volt) must suit the frame, propeller and battery voltage.
Drives the motors. Most FPV builds use a 4-in-1 ESC; its current rating must be above what the motors draw at full throttle.
The drone's brain: it reads the gyro and steers the motors. FPV pilots mostly use Betaflight; long-range and autonomous drones use ArduPilot or PX4 with GPS.
Size and pitch (for example 5 x 4.3 inches) set how much thrust and speed you get. Carry spares: they are the part that breaks first.
Usually LiPo or Li-ion. Cell count (4S, 6S) sets the voltage and must match the motor KV; capacity (mAh) and weight set the flight time.
The link between your hands and the drone. ExpressLRS (ELRS) is a common choice for FPV.
For flying through goggles: an analog or digital video system. All three parts must use the same system.
Needed for position hold, return-to-home and mapping. Optional on a freestyle FPV drone.
Most problems in a new build come from parts that do not fit each other.
Higher-voltage batteries (6S) pair with lower-KV motors; 4S pairs with higher KV. A mismatch overheats motors or ESCs.
Leave headroom: the ESC should handle more current than the motors' maximum draw.
Flight controller and ESC stacks come in set hole spacings (such as 30.5 mm or 20 mm). Check the frame takes them.
The frame decides the largest propeller that fits without touching.
Connectors must match the ESC lead, and a heavy battery cuts flight time and agility.
A drone kit puts matching parts in one box, which is the easiest way to start and avoids most mismatch problems. Buying parts one by one lets you choose each component for your use, for example a long-range build or a cinematic build, and makes repairs and upgrades cheaper later. Many people start with a kit and replace parts as they learn.
A drone you build yourself still has to follow India's drone rules: check its weight class, whether it needs a UIN on Digital Sky, and the airspace zone before you fly. Our drone rules guide explains the categories.
NVX Drone Store in Connaught Place supplies FPV drone parts and accessories: motors, ESCs, flight controllers, frames, propellers, batteries, cameras and goggles. We do not build FPV drones, but tell us what you are building and we will tell you which parts work together and what is in stock.
FAQ
A frame, four brushless motors, an ESC, a flight controller, propellers, a battery, a radio receiver and transmitter. For FPV flying add a camera, a video transmitter and goggles; for return-to-home add a GPS module.
A box of parts chosen to work together, so you only assemble and set it up. It is the simplest way to build your first drone.
Match the motor to the frame size, propeller and battery voltage. For a common 5-inch FPV drone, pilots often use 2207-size motors, with the KV chosen for a 4S or 6S battery.
It reads the drone's gyro and other sensors and adjusts each motor many times a second to keep the drone stable and follow your sticks.
Most hobby and FPV drones use LiPo batteries; long-range builds often use Li-ion packs. Use the cell count your motors and ESC are rated for.
No. NVX supplies FPV drone parts and accessories and does not build FPV drones.
Often yes: motors, propellers, arms and ESCs are the parts most often replaced. If you are unsure, our workshop can diagnose it and quote first.
