Drone shots now appear at weddings, in property listings, in tourism films and on construction sites. Whether you hire a drone photographer or buy a drone to shoot yourself, the same three things decide the result: the pilot's skill, the airspace where you want to fly and the camera on the drone. NVX does not offer drone photography services; this guide is here to help you hire well or choose the right drone.
What decides the cost of drone photography
Rates vary widely by city and season, so compare written quotes that list the same things.
Airspace permission
Venues in yellow or red zones need permission on Digital Sky before the flight, which takes time and may not be granted.
Photos, video or both
Edited video takes much longer than photos. Ask how many minutes of edited film and how many photos you get.
The drone and camera
Larger sensors and better lenses give cleaner low-light shots, useful at evening functions.
Pilot certification and insurance
Certified, insured operators may charge more, and they carry the responsibility if something goes wrong.
Rules for drone photography in India
These apply to the operator you hire and to you if you fly yourself.
Airspace zones
Green zones allow flight up to 400 ft without permission; yellow and red zones need permission first. Large parts of Delhi are yellow or red.
Registration
Drones above 250 g need a UIN on Digital Sky.
Remote Pilot Certificate
Most paid work with drones above 250 g needs a pilot with a Remote Pilot Certificate.
Crowds and privacy
Do not fly directly over crowds, and respect people's privacy. Venue owners and local police can also restrict flights.

Is the venue in a green zone?
Ask the operator to check the venue on the Digital Sky airspace map before quoting.
Can I see full films, not just highlights?
Full films show how the pilot handles real conditions.
What happens if flying is not allowed?
Weather, wind or a permission refusal can stop the drone. Agree in writing what you pay then.
Is there a backup drone and batteries?
A long event needs several charged batteries.
