Drone repair
By the NVX engineering team, New Delhi · 2 November 2026 · 6 min read
There is no fixed price for repairing a DJI drone in India. The bill is made of a diagnosis, the parts that failed, the labour to fit and calibrate them, and courier charges, so a propeller or arm job costs a fraction of a gimbal camera or main board replacement. A manufacturing defect within warranty is repaired free through the manufacturer's official channel, but crash damage is almost always a paid repair. Here is how to read a quote and keep the cost sensible.

Whoever repairs the drone, the quote breaks into the same parts. Ask for each one in writing.

The biggest variable. A gimbal camera module, main board or set of arms for a newer model costs far more than propellers, landing gear or a shell. Since February 2022, complete drones cannot be freely imported into India, but drone components can be, so genuine spares are available at importer pricing.
Disassembly, the repair itself, reassembly and then the part people forget: IMU, compass, gimbal and vision sensor calibration, firmware checks and a test flight. Gimbal and board work takes the longest.
If you ship the drone, count the courier both ways and the insurance on it. GST applies on parts and service, so compare quotes on the same basis: with or without tax.
When the main board, several arms and the gimbal all fail in one crash, the quote can approach the price of a used drone. A fair workshop will tell you that before you spend.
From the DJI Mini, Air, Mavic and Avata drones that come to our workshop, this is roughly how repair cost climbs. Exact figures depend on the model and on parts availability, so get a quote for your unit.
Often replaced the same day. Replace propellers in matched sets after a crash.
A broken arm on a folding drone is the most common first crash repair. A cracked shell is cosmetic until it lets dust and moisture in.
A motor that stalls or grinds after a crash, or an ESC error, needs the motor or board section replaced and a bench test.
Swollen, non-charging or error-showing battery packs are usually replaced, not repaired. Keep a damaged pack out of the drone.
A gimbal overload or stuck gimbal after a knock can need a ribbon cable, a gimbal motor or the full camera module, which is the single most expensive part on most consumer DJI drones.
A drone that will not power on, or that went into water, may need the main board replaced. After water contact do not power it on; send it in quickly, because corrosion spreads with every day.
Many questions about cost are really questions about who should pay. The manufacturer's published after-sales policy answers most of them.
DJI's after-sales policy covers material and workmanship defects under normal use for a fixed period per part, and repairs covered by that warranty are done at no cost. Pilot error, crashes, water entry, unauthorised modification and third-party parts are excluded.
The same policy says warranty service is only available in the region where the product was bought. A drone bought abroad may be serviced in another region if parts are available, but at extra cost and with customs duties paid by you.
DJI's own Care Refresh FAQ lists the countries and regions where the plan is offered, and India is not on that list. The plan must be bought in the same region as the product, so a plan bought elsewhere will not cover a drone used in India.
Some Indian sellers offer their own one-year warranty on manufacturing defects for drones they sell. Read what your invoice says, and note that crash damage is rarely included.
For most people in India, a crashed or water-damaged DJI drone is a paid repair, whether at the seller, abroad or at an independent workshop like NVX. NVX is not a DJI-authorised service centre; we repair independently and tell you when the official route is the better option for a genuine defect.
A few habits from our bench save customers money.
Model, what happened, the error message or a short video, and whether it has been opened before. That gets you a realistic range before you pay for courier.
A second power-up after a crash can turn a cheap arm repair into a motor and board repair. After water, it can destroy a board that was saveable.
Parts and labour listed separately, GST stated, calibration and a test flight included, and the warranty the workshop gives on its own work.
Structural and electronic parts should be genuine or equal to original specification. Ask, and ask what happens if a part is on back order.
Logs show whether a fault was a defect, a crash or a battery issue. They help the workshop, and they matter if you claim a warranty.
FAQ
It depends on the model and what failed. Propeller, arm and shell repairs sit at the low end, motor and battery work in the middle, and gimbal camera, main board or water-damage repairs at the top. Ask for an itemised quote with parts, labour, GST and courier listed separately.
Yes. You can use the seller's warranty if the fault is a manufacturing defect, send the drone to the region where you bought it for official service, or use an independent repair workshop such as NVX in Connaught Place, New Delhi. NVX is not DJI-authorised.
Only for defects in materials or workmanship within the warranty period, in the region of purchase, under DJI's after-sales policy. Crashes, water damage and pilot error are excluded and are charged as customer-paid repairs.
DJI's Care Refresh FAQ lists the countries and regions where the plan is sold, and India is not among them. The plan must be bought in the same region as the product. Check dji.com for the current list before you rely on it.
If you bought from an Indian seller, the warranty on your invoice is the one that applies, and it usually covers manufacturing defects for a fixed period. DJI's own policy limits warranty service to the region of purchase. Keep the invoice, serial number and flight logs.
Usually yes for a single fault such as an arm, motor or battery. When the gimbal, main board and several arms fail together, compare the quote with the price of a used unit. A good workshop will tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense.
