Saksham Thermal

Saksham Thermal: an Indian made thermal drone.

Heat tells you what daylight cameras miss: a hotspot on a solar string, a leaking joint on a pipeline, or a person in the dark. Saksham Thermal puts a thermal camera, wide-angle and telephoto cameras and a laser rangefinder on one gimbal. It flies for 55+ minutes with up to 15 km range, and it is designed, built and serviced in India by NVX.

Saksham Thermal multi-sensor gimbal with thermal, zoom and wide cameras

One gimbal, four sensors

Switch between views without landing to change the payload.

Thermal camera

Shows temperature differences, so people, animals, hot equipment and leaks stand out by day or night.

Telephoto zoom

Read a number plate, a meter or a crack from a safe distance.

Wide-angle camera

Keep the whole scene in view for orientation and mapping.

Laser rangefinder

Measures the distance to what you are looking at, so you can locate it accurately.

What teams use a thermal drone for

Common Saksham Thermal applications discussed with NVX.

Solar plant inspection

Find faulty cells, diodes and strings by their heat signature.

Electrical and substation checks

Spot overheating joints, insulators and transformers before they fail.

Search and rescue

Locate missing people at night or in forest, flood and landslide areas.

Perimeter security

Night patrols of large campuses, plants and depots.

Firefighting support

See through smoke to find hotspots and people.

Wildlife and forest

Animal counts, anti-poaching patrols and forest-fire watch.

Saksham Standard or Saksham Thermal?

Both share the same airframe, 55+ minute endurance, RTK and up to 15 km range. Choose Saksham Thermal when your work happens at night, involves heat (electrical, solar, fire) or means finding people. Choose Saksham Standard for daylight inspection, mapping and photography.

Before you fly

Thermal drones are flown under the same Drone Rules, 2021 as other drones.

Register the drone

Drones must be registered on the Digital Sky platform and carry a Unique Identification Number (UIN), unless exempt under the Drone Rules, 2021.

Certified remote pilot

Commercial operation needs a Remote Pilot Certificate issued through a DGCA-authorised training organisation.

Check the airspace

Green zones need no permission up to 400 ft. Yellow zones need air-traffic permission and red zones need Central Government permission.

Indian made by default

Import of foreign-built drones has been restricted since February 2022, so Indian manufacturers are the main route for most buyers.
