Vision sensor error
One or more vision cameras is not working correctly.
DJI vision sensor error
DJI drones use pairs of vision cameras to hold position and avoid obstacles. When the app shows "Vision sensor error", "Vision system abnormal", "Vision sensor calibration required" or "Obstacle sensing unavailable", the drone can drift indoors and will not brake for obstacles. Sometimes cleaning or recalibrating fixes it; after a crash it often needs a repair.

Forward, backward, downward and side vision systems can all report faults.
One or more vision cameras is not working correctly.
Sensors are dirty, covered or see an image that does not match.
The stereo camera pair needs to be recalibrated, or calibration failed.
Positioning and landing protection may not work; the drone can drift.
Obstacle avoidance and APAS are switched off until the fault clears.
Vision positioning is not holding the drone in place.
Try these before booking a repair.
Wipe every vision sensor lens with a clean microfibre cloth. Smudges, dust and propeller residue are common causes.
Vision positioning needs good light and a textured surface. Water, glass, plain floors and darkness confuse it.
Folded or half-folded arms can block a sensor and cause errors or calibration failure.
Power-cycle the drone and controller and update the aircraft firmware.
On supported models, vision calibration runs in DJI Assistant 2 on a computer. Use a flat (not curved) monitor at its default resolution, as DJI support advises.
Book a diagnosis if the error stays after cleaning and calibration, or if:
Impacts can crack a sensor, shift a camera module out of alignment or damage its cable.
Often a misaligned or faulty sensor pair rather than a software issue.
Moisture or a cracked cover glass needs cleaning or replacement.
Combined vision, IMU or compass errors can point to frame or board damage.
We check each vision camera, its cable and mounting, clean or replace damaged sensors and cover glass, recalibrate the vision system and test hover stability and obstacle sensing where safe. We work on DJI Mini, Air, Mavic, Avata, Phantom and enterprise models. NVX is an independent repair service and not a DJI-authorised service centre.
The same tracked process for every repair, whether you visit or courier the drone.
Model, what happened and a few photos. It takes about three minutes.
Bring it to Connaught Place or send it by courier. Contact us first about damaged batteries.
A technician finds the fault and quotes before any work starts.
Approved work is done, sensors are calibrated, and the drone is test-flown where safe.
Pick it up or get it couriered back, with a summary of the work done.
FAQ
Clean all sensors, fly in good light over a textured surface, unfold the arms fully, update firmware and calibrate the vision sensors with DJI Assistant 2 where supported. If the error remains, book a diagnosis.
Only with caution in open space. Positioning and obstacle avoidance may not work, so the drone can drift and will not brake for obstacles.
Common causes are a curved or small monitor, folded arms, dirty sensors, or a sensor knocked out of alignment in a crash.
Yes. The sensor, cover glass or cable can be cleaned or replaced and the system recalibrated. You get a quote after inspection.
It depends on the model and which sensor is damaged. NVX diagnoses first and quotes before any work.
