Enterprise buying guide

How to choose an enterprise drone in India.

By the NVX engineering team, New Delhi

An enterprise drone is a working tool, so the right choice depends on the job, the site and the support behind it, not the longest spec sheet. Use this checklist to compare options for inspection, security, mapping and emergency response.

Start with the mission

Write down what the drone must do before comparing models.

What you need to see

Detail at distance needs zoom; heat signatures need thermal; distances need a laser rangefinder.

How far and how long

Size of the site or corridor decides endurance and range.

How accurate

Mapping and asset location need RTK or PPK positioning.

Where you fly

Check airspace zones on Digital Sky for your sites.

Who flies

Plan for certified pilots and in-house training.

Specifications that matter

Ask for test conditions with every number.

Endurance

Real flight time with your payload, not empty hover time. Longer endurance means fewer battery swaps per job.

Range and link

Usable link range in your terrain. Remember that line-of-sight requirements may limit how far you can legally fly.

RTK positioning

Centimetre-level positioning for mapping and precise repeat flights.

Payloads

Wide-angle, telephoto and thermal cameras, and a laser rangefinder for measuring distance to a target.

Weather tolerance

Wind, heat and dust performance in Indian conditions.

Software and AI

Mission planning, onboard detection and reporting tools that fit your workflow.

Data security, compliance and support

These decide whether the drone keeps working for years.

Data control

Where imagery and logs are stored, and whether they can stay on your own systems.

Registration and certification

How the UIN is issued and whether a type certificate applies.

Service and spares

Repair turnaround, spare availability and on-site support in India.

Training

Operator training on your drone and your missions.

Upgrades

Firmware and payload upgrades over the drone's life.

How Saksham maps to this checklist

Saksham is NVX's Indian made enterprise drone: AI-powered operation, up to 15 km range, 55+ minute flight time, RTK positioning and a gimbal with wide-angle, telephoto and thermal cameras plus a laser rangefinder. It comes in Standard and Thermal models. NVX supports it from New Delhi with on-site demonstrations, operator training, repair and maintenance, and NVX Vision for operations and analytics on request. Range and flight time depend on environment, payload and regulations, so ask for a site demo before you decide.

FAQ

Enterprise Drone Guide: common questions

What flight time should an enterprise drone have?

Enough to finish a typical task with margin. For inspection and security, 40 minutes or more of real flight time with payload reduces battery swaps.

Do I need RTK?

If you map, measure or need to return to exact points, yes. For visual inspection alone, standard GNSS may be enough.

Thermal or zoom camera?

Thermal finds heat: hotspots, people at night, leaks. Zoom reads detail from a safe distance. Many teams need both, which is why Saksham Thermal carries wide-angle, telephoto and thermal cameras.

What does a laser rangefinder add?

It measures distance to the target, which helps estimate the location and size of what you are looking at.

Can we see Saksham before buying?

Yes. NVX offers on-site demonstrations. Request a quote or demo through the enquiry form.

Who maintains the drone after purchase?

NVX offers repair, maintenance and on-site support for Saksham from New Delhi.
